I am like a little kid getting a new puppy.
Oh wait.
I AM getting a new puppy!
Dog, actually. A four-year-old lady boxer, currently named Pixie. It means making a three-hour trek to the north shore of Long Island (hiya Jude) and then three hours back...putting me right through metropolitan NYC at rush hour on a Friday evening. It means upsetting the calm and routine that has settled in our home (now that Clutch isn't throwing his considerable weight around, Billy gets nice juicy marrow bones and as far as he is concerned, that's a fair trade). It means having twice the slobber, hair, and muddy paw prints everywhere.
Why am I doing this?
For the same reason I do most things that make no sense. Because I have to.
Well "Pixie" is no jinx on this Friday the 13th because hearing this news is just about the best magic of all.
ReplyDeleteI am shocked at how excited I am. A big part of my heart still sees my big ole Clutch everywhere, but that is how life is.
DeleteCongratulations and may the introductions go smoothly. New friends always make sense.
ReplyDeleteIt was about an hour walking in circles with Himself and Billy, who wasn't mean, just in your face dominant. Fortunately, she just rolled her eyes and said, "You want to think you're boss? Whatever."
Deleteyou find the best photos Julie !
ReplyDeleteShe is too damn cute and the result of googling "excited little girl"
Deletehave you had a lady boxer before? i'm thinking this will be very different. and Pixie.
ReplyDeletehmmm somehow that feels just OK. Like really OK., really. Most dogs not. But a
lady Boxer? yes, i do think So. So....what a surprise Billy is in for. But you know,
most dogs do the best with company....their own.....
WOW. I am really excited to hear of the Adventures of Billy and Pixie.!!
Our first boxer (four dogs ago) was Miss Lucy, who was friendly and smart and had Very Definite Issues, like men with hats. And Pixie went through many permutations but I believe we have settled on Miss Molly. Mol for short.
DeleteFirst adventure was her face when Billy went out the dog door to the yard. Talk about "poof!" She ran around and around, came in to tell us that our dog had been beamed up, and was beside herself when he came back in.
Deleteyes...SMILING...dog doors....!!!! Does Billy like her?
Deletecongratulations!
ReplyDeletefurry, four-legged happiness comes in slobbering leaps and bounds
Ain't it the truth. And this one leaps like a gazelle being chased by a lion on those nature documentaries and then crawls into my lap, where her tiny little body (50 lbs vs Clutchie's 85) actually fits without causing my pelvis to dislocate.
DeleteWe want pictures!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk Julie. Just sit. Stay.
Deletejust seeing this post, Julie, and sooooooooo happy for you best ole girl i ever had was a female boxer by the name of Josie. yep. oh my. such love in store
